Thank you so much for reading Blackbirded. I am very proud of how this story turned out. I will break down more of my thoughts on its construction at a later date, and I’ll share those here below.
But for now I wanted to thank you for making it this far in my story. And I wanted to thank some other people too!
Nathan Lawrence edited this whole thing and his advice was invaluable. Any mistakes you see in the formatting are purely because I ignored him.
Liam Gilroy was my alpha and beta reader. Without him what clarity there was would be absent, as he called it out whenever an idea wasn’t landing like I thought it should.
Fiona Herron is my greatest champion.
Elizabeth Dunstone and Jesse Jones provided me with a great foundation to approach my acknowledgement of country. Their advice provided me with a great deal of confidence. Distilled down, what I learnt from them was to above all try to be respectful. That said if I messed it up, I did that entirely on my own and despite their advice.
fiverr/james_ghdesign created my Blackbirded cover, which I love.
Luke Lawrie and Stephen Farrelly were my sounding boards for the idea before it became anything at all and both provided me with a lot of confidence in going ahead with it.
Jesper Lloyd gave me a fantastic heads up about some technical snafus in the publishing process. LittleSettler provided me with the idea to create a glossary of terms for my international audience on RoyalRoad.
If you enjoyed Blackbirded, feel free to Buy Me A Beer. But don’t feel like you have to. I’m honestly just grateful you read it.
If you’ve got feedback you’d like to share on it, I think the comments work below? Or you can send me an email joabgilroy at gmail dot com.
